De band tussen The Scabs en AB is niet van de minste. Zo kwamen The Scabs namelijk op vraag van AB in 2007 opnieuw samen om in het kader van de befaamde ◄◄ REWIND reeks integraal hun klassieker Royalty In Exile te spelen. De drie (uitverkochte) reünieconcerten – de band was in 1996 gesplit - waren een instant succes. En het leek alsof de beste jaren nog moesten komen.

The Scabs speelden in 2008 namelijk op TW Classic in goed gezelschap van niemand minder dan The Police en Iggy & The Stooges. En in 2019 vierde de band hun 40ste verjaardag. De bijhorende tour ’40 Years’ telde niet minder dan 35 (!) uitverkochte (!) concerten. 2019 was overigens een sleuteljaar voor de band. Dat jaar ontvingen The Scabs namelijk op de MIA’s een Lifetime Achievement Award. Enkele dagen na de award uitreiking ruilde de meesterlijke gitarist – én schat van een mens - Willy Willy echter het tijdelijke voor het eeuwige. Het was de wens van De Belgische Keith Richards dat The Scabs de tour zonder hem zouden afwerken.

Enter 2025! The Scabs kondigen een exclusieve voorjaarsshow aan onder de noemer The Phoenix Tour die zal plaatsvinden op vrijdag 24 april 2026. Treffender kan haast niet: de band is dan ook als een feniks uit zijn as herrezen. Bovendien hebben ze een nieuwe gitarist on board gehaald: Fabio Canini, gekend van Sloper, de band van die twee meesterlijk drummers: Mario Goossens (Triggerfinger) en Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring).
